North Omaha dance company inspires ballerinas

Inside the Florence Community Center twice a week, a group of girls, 7 to 9 years old, are living their dream.

Cabriole dance is an inner city dance company. Instructors teach the little kids pre professional dance techniques, fundraising to make competitions and performances possible.

"We aren't the next "Dance Moms" saga. We want better for our group. We are always looking for a new location to perform, a fundraising opportunity, a learning opportunity," Trisha Humphrey, parent and president of the group says.

Humphrey says they're working on their 501c3 status, but in the meantime have partnered with Omaha Performing Arts. The girls get to attend two performances this season.

"Three weeks ago, I went to see this dance company and they were like professional and they did straight leaps," says Brianna,9.

For parent Shawn Thayer, it's inspiring.

"It really builds that confidence in the girls. You can see in the beginning of the year, the progress since they have gone through."
