The Creighton men's basketball team took down UNC Pembroke 93-70 in its second and final exhibition game of the season Friday night.
Creighton features an experienced team this year, with fifth-year seniors Toby Hegner, Tyler Clement and Manny Suarez along with two fourth-year juniors.
The Bluejays starting lineup returned Kyhri Thomas, Marcus Foster and added Hegner, Martin Krampelj and Kaleb Joseph.
The Braves started the game scoring on five of seven possessions to take a 12-9 lead.
A few minutes into the game the Bluejays started to heat up and a couple of dunks from Thomas helped the Jays pull away with the lead.
Thomas and Manny Suarez's double figures helped lead the Bluejays to 49-41 lead over UNC Pembroke at half. Thomas finished the first half with 14 points while Suarez followed with 10.
The Bluejays continued to excel on offense and defense throughout the second half. Creighton's top three scorers were Thomas (22) Foster (19), and Suarez (13).
Freshman standout Mitch Ballock finished Friday's contest with 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Ballock talked about how watching teammates Thomas and Foster has helped his energy and mindset when he comes into the game off the bench.
"Marcus puts a lot of confidence in me," Ballock said.
Creighton officially starts the 2017-2018 season Friday, Nov. 10th against Yale. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. at CenturyLink Center.
