Nebraska football did not get the start it wanted against Minnesota as the Huskers trail 30-14 at the half.

The Gophers, who had scored 20 points combined in their previous two games, have given the Blackshirts all they can handle in the first half. Minnesota has racked up 311 yards of total offense, 238 on the ground and another 73 through the air.

Nebraska quarterback Tanner Lee has completed 13 of his 18 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Hoppes in the second quarter.

Wide receiver J.D. Spielman has been the bright spot for the Huskers thus far, as he has been all season. Spielman has caught six passes for 84 yards in the first half.

Nebraska's defense has had it's struggles containing the read option, as Minnesota quarterback Demry Croft ran for 116 yards on five carries, including a 73-yard touchdown run.
