Nebraska took the lead early on in the first quarter with a quick field goal followed by a touchdown. Huskers cornerback Chris Jones came up with an interception return for a touchdown to give them a 17-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
Indiana took control during the second quarter with a safety to put them on the scoreboard 17-2 and later added a field goal to make it 17-5. Nebraska's Tommy Armstrong then threw an interception to allow Indiana another field goal towards the end of the second quarter. Nebraska held the lead 17-8 going into halftime.
Indiana continued to catch up in the third quarter with a touchdown to cut the deficit to 17-15.
The fourth quarter was full of excitement as Indiana and Nebraska both scored another touchdown to make it 24-22. Huskers Sam Brown made the filed goal to bring their lead to 27-22 with 45 seconds in the game remaining. Nebraska's Aaron Williams came up with an interception to end the game.
