The Omaha Hockey team played its first scrimmage of the season Sunday against Manitoba.
The Mavs feature a different roster compared to a season ago and Coach Mike Gabinet will count on the returners to contribute in different ways than last year.
"I'm excited, we have a lot of unknowns and a lot of new faces, a lot of guys who didn't have an offensive role before who will be put in to an offensive role this season," Gabinet said. "Lots of unknowns but I choose to look at it with a lot of excitement and possibilities for these guys to keep developing."
Teemu Pulkkinen had a hat trick and Fredrik Olofsson notched four assists as the Mavericks defeated Manitoba 6-1.
