UNO head Coach Bob Warming had his home debut spoiled Saturday evening as his Mavericks soccer team fell against his former Creighton Bluejays squad in the South Omaha Classic 2-1.
The scrimmage will be the only time the two area programs will face during the 2018 season.
Omaha opened the scoring three minutes in to the game off a goal by Marcos Bautista. However the Jays' Sven Koenig would add two goals in the second half, including one in the final ten minutes of regulation to give the vistors the road victory.
Omaha will open its regular season at Caniglia Field on August 24 against UC Davis while Creighton starts its 2018 campaign at Morrison Stadium the same day against No. 11 Clemson.
