OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Some people may meet officers on the worst day of their life. But for one special five-year-old meeting members of the Omaha Police Department made his day one of the best.

Leevi is recovering from his fourth heart surgery at Children's Hospital and Medical Center. His favorite show is Live PD and officers took the chance to visit him Saturday.

Officer Jason Messerschmidt with Omaha Police was one of the first to visit Leevi. He said getting to show the more human side of law enforcement means a lot to him. "It was really inspiring for me to see someone get so excited just to see me or any other police officer, ya know we are just like anyone else so for him to be so excited was exciting for us," he said.

The police department gave Leevi an OPD t-shirt and and few other little gifts.

Meeserschmidt has been with the department for 15 years and said this is the second time he has made a visit like this and he hopes to do many more in the future.
