OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — It's a place created to give Omaha veterans a place to call home. Now the Victory Apartments on 8th and Dorcas are expanding. Developers plan to renovate the old Grace University dorms, right next door, for the same purpose

140 veterans are on the waiting list to get into Victory Apartments. The first set of apartments has 90 units and the second set will have 60.
Veterans who live at the apartment said it's a nice place to call home and are excited to see another set of apartments being built right next door. "Coming here you know right away that you're in a safe environment, you've got other vets,” said resident, Jim Holt.

Officials with Victory Apartments say it's their duty to take care of those who took care of us. “As a country we owe it to them to make sure that they are taken care of when they do get back because they went out and did things that not a lot of people would want to do,” said George Achola, VP Burlington Capital.
Construction on Victory II is set to begin in March or April, and the first tenant is expected to move in ten to 12 months after that.
