WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR NORTHEAST NEBRASKA AND WEST
CENTRAL IOWA...
The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued a Red
Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in
effect until 7 PM CDT this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no
longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Knox, Cedar, Thurston, Pierce, Wayne, Stanton,
Cuming, Burt, Monona, Harrison, and Shelby Counties.
* TIMING...Until 7 PM CDT this evening.
* WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. The
strongest gusts will be in the late morning hours, but gusty
winds continue into early evening.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 10 percent in Knox county, and as
low as 16 percent in other parts of the warned area.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
