"Meet the Weathercasters" at Weatherfest 2018

Posted

Do you like weather? Do you want to "Meet the Weathercasters," too? Well there's a great weather event coming up this weekend that you will want to check out! The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's 18th Annual Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium, AKA Weatherfest 2018, is happening THIS SATURDAY, April 7th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. It is held at Nebraska Innovation Campus (21st St. & Salt Creek Road in Lincoln—not too far from the Bob Devaney Sports Center). Come down to Lincoln, say hi to us, and enjoy the event!

While there are a LOT of different booths and activities to see, you can also "Meet the Weathercasters." Which means you can stop by and say hello to Jennifer Zeppelin, Ryan McPike, Mark Stitz, and myself! We will be there from 10 am to noon and you can find us on the second floor. We enjoy meeting our viewers, so we hope you will come visit us!

I can say from personal experience that Weatherfest is always a ton of fun and a great activity for the whole family. Some of the other booths will be run by UNL Earth and Atmospheric Science students with fun experiments to see and do. You can also meet some of the meteorologists from our local National Weather Service office and get great information from them. Other booths have pamphlets and freebies for you to take home, too.

The afternoon is full of presentations and includes storm spotter training. Some of these talks might go over the heads of the kiddos. Otherwise, it's a great time to learn more about the weather and there are usually some cool pictures and videos in the presentations.

If you have any questions about the event, feel free to reach out to us on Facebook, Twitter, or via email. You can also find more information online at: https://weatherfest.unl.edu

The 3 News Now Weather Alert team is looking forward to this awesome event and we hope to see you there!
